Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have spoken to Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss plans to retaliate after last week’s Iranian missile attack on Israel.
The leaders’ telephone call on Wednesday was the first time they had spoken in six weeks.
It came amid reports that the White House has become increasingly frustrated at being blind-sided by Israel’s military operations against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terror group.
Details of the discussions have not been made public so far, but the White House said it would release an update later.
Washington has been continuing in recent days to push Mr Netanyahu to limit his reprisals to avoid a further slide towards war in the Middle East.
