The BBC has been accused of “whitewashing” Palestinian news outlets that glorify terror attacks on Israel.

Palestinian news platforms cited by the broadcaster have allegedly broadcast numerous extremist statements and celebrations of acts of terror, it is claimed.

According to media campaigners, the BBC has failed to acknowledge or challenge the extremist content of the Palestinian outlets it referred to.

The allegations of whitewashing came after BBC Arabic, BBC World Service and BBC Monitoring conducted an investigation claiming that Facebook has severely restricted the ability of 20 Palestinian news outlets to reach an audience during the Israel-Gaza war.

Data compiled by BBC News showed a dramatic fall in audience engagement for Palestinian outlets in the year after the attack by Hamas on Oct 7.

In one instance, Basha’ir al-Awiwi, a Palestine TV religious programme host, says: “We’re happy the killed Jews are in hell.”
