A bar accused of hosting a “sexualised” drag show while children were present is being investigated by Florida’s attorney general.
The event at the Kilted Mermaid in Vero Beach had “adult, sexualised performers in front of children,” James Uthmeier, the state’s attorney general, claimed on Tuesday.
Mr Uthmeier issued a subpoena to the venue and ordered it to hand over its records.
The prosecutors’ office said the LGBTQ Pride event last month was open to all ages. The subpoena came despite a recent state law that restricts venues from admitting children to “adult” performances being blocked by courts.
The attorney general has not released a statement yet outlining which laws were allegedly violated.
