Arsenal fan had only ‘see-through top’ to wear after Palestine shirt confiscated

A fan attending Arsenal Women’s game with Brighton and Hove Albion has criticised the club after she had a Palestine football shirt confiscated.

Arsenal claimed their first win in four Women’s Super League games thanks to an own goal at the Emirates Stadium from Marisa Olislagers, but one supporter was unimpressed after she was had to watch the match in a “see-through” top.

The fan, who goes by the handle @twentyeightfcs, wrote on X: “Wearing my FC Palestine shirt to the Arsenal Women v Brighton game at the Emirates today to show my support – at the turnstiles, I was denied entry because the shirt (alongside any Palestinian representation) is banned due to ground rules.

“When challenged, I was told that I can either leave the premises or take it off and collect it after the game. They told me any flags/shirts etc to do with ‘the other side of the world’ are banned from entry inside the grounds. The staff were argumentative and showed little understanding for my discomfort at wearing a see-through lace top which revealed my upper body in the premises.

“They refused to provide a replacement clothing as it wasn’t their responsibility and that it was my fault for knowingly wearing a Palestine shirt to the match today.”
