Apple has removed apps from its store which allow users to track the real-time movements of ICE agents on their iPhones.
The Trump administration pressured Apple to remove the tracking apps after one was used by a gunman who targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in a deadly shooting in Dallas.
The Telegraph revealed that ICEBlock and other tracking apps remained available on the Apple store in the aftermath of the attack.
On Thursday, Apple banned ICEBlock and similar applications that allow users to share information about sightings of ICE agents.
Pam Bondi, the US attorney general, said ICEBlock put officers’ lives “at risk”.
“We reached out to Apple today demanding they remove the ICEBlock app from their App Store — and Apple did so,” Ms Bondi told Fox News. “ICEBlock is designed to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs, and violence against law enforcement is an intolerable red line that cannot be crossed.”
Last Wednesday, Joshua Jahn, 29, opened fire at an ICE facility, killing two migrant detainees and injuring another.
