Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been ordered to pay $2,733.18 by an ethics committee that found she broke House rules with her “tax the rich” Met Gala dress.
The Left-wing politician stole the headlines when she appeared at the 2021 Met Gala, wearing a striking designer dress emblazoned with blood-red letters.
But her piece of political theatre backfired when a congressional committee accused her of breaking House ethics rules by accepting a free ticket to the gala for her and her then-boyfriend, Riley Roberts, as well as accepting a discount on her outfit.
The firebrand politician paid less than $1,000 to rent the outfit, rather than the $3,700 market value.
The 26-page report was endorsed by Democrats and Republicans on the committee, which decided against further punishment for the congresswoman, a high-profile member of the Left-wing “Squad” on Capitol Hill.
