Armed police have launched a manhunt in a Welsh village after a pregnant mother-of-two was reportedly stabbed on her way to school.
The 29-year-old woman was rushed to hospital following the attack, which took place in the former mining community of Aberfan.
Three schools and a community centre have gone into lockdown following the “serious assault” on Tuesday morning.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
One local woman, who did not wish to be named, said: “She is heavily pregnant, maybe seven or eight months and she was taking one of her kids to school.
“Aberfan has been through enough without all this.”
Two other members of the local community also claimed the woman was heavily pregnant.
