Rep. Greg Casar (D., Texas) was mocked on social media after ending a “thirst strike” that lasted for all of nine hours.

The progressive “Squad” member pledged not to drink water “until nurses require him to stop,” to show “solidarity” with construction workers, as he called on Congress to pass legislation mandating work breaks, the Hill reported.

Casar posted a photo of himself taking his “last drink of water” Tuesday morning before venturing out to the Capitol steps, where he reportedly received frequent medical checkups to ensure his safety.

Several progressive politicians, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), and Sen. Ed Markey (D., Mass.) joined Casar on the steps throughout the day.

Casar’s strike ended a little less than nine hours after it began, prompting mockery from conservatives on social media.

“Congrats on … existing between early lunch and late dinner,” CNN contributor Scott Jennings said.

“Libs get participation trophies for literally skipping breakfast,” Spectator reporter Matthew Foldi joked.

Other social media personalities also joined in the ridicule.

“The human body is amazing when pushed to the limits,” Barstool Sports commentator Dan “Big Cat” Katz cracked.
