Newly released notes written by the IRS whistleblower who said his agency slow-rolled investigations into Hunter Biden appear to support his testimony.

The notes published by Politico are from an Oct. 7, 2022, meeting between officials from the FBI and IRS, including whistleblower Gary Shapley, who testified before Congress earlier this year that he was restrained from conducting a full investigation into Biden’s alleged tax crimes.

David Weiss, the Delaware U.S. attorney who is investigating Biden and is now special counsel in the probe, attended the meeting. The notes Shapely took appear to corroborate his claims that Weiss said he wasn’t the deciding person on bringing charges against the first son.

“Weiss stated- He is not the deciding person,” Shapley wrote in his notes.

It’s a new development in the controversy over whether political power influenced the probe into President Joe Biden’s son, who allegedly committed tax fraud by, among other crimes, expensing payments to prostitutes and a sex club from his taxes.

House Republicans last month subpoenaed two IRS agents and two FBI special agents alleged to have attended or been briefed on the meeting. One FBI official, special agent in charge Thomas Sobocinski, told House investigators that Weiss did have authority in the investigation, contradicting Shapley’s testimony.

The other subpoenaed officials are IRS director of field operations Michael Batdorf, IRS special agent in charge Darrell Waldon, and FBI assistant special agent in charge Ryeshia Holley. According to Shapley, all the officials attended the meeting except for Batdorf, whom Shapley sent an email recounting the details of the meeting.

“Our Committees, along with the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, have sought these interviews since IRS whistleblowers came forward with concerning allegations of political interference in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign influence peddling and tax evasion,” the Republicans said in a statement.
