The Biden administration and media pundits have repeatedly said throughout Joe Biden’s administration that empathy is the president’s “calling card.”

“If you know this president, you know how much he cares about people,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said last week.

Biden’s responses to train derailments, natural disasters, and his seventh grandchild have demonstrated otherwise.

Just last week, Biden had the chance to put his empathy on display when a reporter asked him to comment on the rising death toll from the Maui wildfires. Biden’s response: “No. No comment.”
