California state senator and U.S. congressional candidate Dave Min (D.), who was arrested in May for driving drunk through a red light, was sentenced to probation this week.

Min pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge on Tuesday. He’ll face three years of unsupervised probation and must enroll in an alcohol education course. He was also ordered to pay $2,050 in fines, Politico reported.

Min is running to fill the seat of Rep. Katie Porter (D.), who is running for U.S. Senate.

Min was arrested on May 2 after barreling through a red light with no headlights on. His blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

Police records and footage of his arrest reported by the Washington Free Beacon at the time showed Min lied about how many drinks he had consumed.

Two breathalyzer tests taken at the scene registered Min’s blood alcohol level at .15 percent, despite him saying he had only consumed two beers. That level suggests he had about four times the number of drinks he said.
