President Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House on Monday morning before an afternoon press conference with the two leaders.
The meeting comes at a tenuous moment for Israel, which is increasingly isolated on the world stage, with multiple longtime allies formally recognizing a Palestinian state this month.
Trump has offered steadfast backing to Netanyahu throughout the war, and Sunday said in an interview that a peace to end the war in Gaza is in its “final stages.”
In a post on social media, the president said: “We have a real chance for GREATNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. ALL ARE ON BOARD FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FIRST TIME EVER. WE WILL GET IT DONE!!!”
