The Senate is set to vote again Wednesday on dueling stopgap funding bills that could reopen the government as the shutdown stretches past the one-week mark.
Senators on Monday voted 52-42 on a House-passed bill, which needed 60 votes to advance and would have funded the government at Biden-era spending levels until late November. The tally has remained virtually unchanged, other than absences, since the lapse in funding started last Wednesday.
The upper chamber opted not to vote Tuesday, instead voting only to confirm another bloc of President Trump’s nominees.
Voting is expected to begin around 11:20 a.m. EDT Wednesday.
