Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is speaking on the Senate floor Thursday afternoon after Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) was shoved out of a press conference being held by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles.
Video of the incident shared by a Fox News reporter shows multiple men restraining Padilla and working to remove him from the room.
“I’m Sen. Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary,” he is heard saying as multiple people push him out of the room. As the lawmaker is thrown out through two double doors, he can be heard saying, “Hands off!”
Noem, who was giving remarks on the recent anti-immigration raids in the city, said she plans to speak with the senator.
“When I leave here, I’ll have a conversation with him, but I think everyone would agree that wasn’t appropriate,” she said during the conference.
