A Senate Judiciary Committee panel convened a hearing Tuesday afternoon on air carrier competition.
Allegiant Airlines CEO Greg Anderson and Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle are among the witnesses. Sharon Pinkerton, senior vice president for Airlines for America (A4A) — which represents Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Soutwest Airlines — will also testify.
The hearing was expected to dive into issues such as outdated technology and air traffic control staffing, as well as what’s next for Spirit Airlines and the cost of flying.
In a statement, according to Reuters, A4A said it looks forward “to highlighting how robust competition has led to historically low fares, a wide availability of options and quality customer service which has resulted in record high demand.”
The event was scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
