Andrew and Tristan Tate, the conservative influencer brothers, have been charged with rape, human trafficking and other crimes in the United Kingdom, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The latest charges against self-described misogynist Andrew Tate, 38, include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain stemming from three female accusers. Tristan Tate, 36, faces charges of rape, human trafficking and actual bodily harm related to one woman, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, the leading prosecuting body for England and Wales.
The brothers, who hold dual American and British citizenship, are facing similar charges in Romania, though they returned to the U.S. earlier this year after the Trump administration reportedly pressured the Eastern European country to lift its two-year travel ban that prevented them from leaving while the criminal case was ongoing.
The siblings have denied any wrongdoing.
“We live in a democratic society where it’s innocent until proven guilty, and I think my brother and I are largely misunderstood,” Andrew Tate told reporters when the siblings arrived in Florida in February. “There’s a lot of opinions about us, things that go around about us on the internet.”
The Crown Prosecution Service said Wednesday that a European Arrest Warrant was issued in England for the brothers in 2024, but the U.K. cases will be delayed until there is a resolution to their “domestic criminal matters in Romania” related to a criminal ring that allegedly lured women to Romania for sexual exploitation.
“The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendants have the right to a fair trial,” it said in a statement on the charges. “It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
