First lady Melania Trump and Kate, Princess of Wales, visited with young children in the Squirrel Scouts program for a solo outing together.

The two women went to Frogmore Gardens, an estate just south of Windsor Castle, where they were welcomed by television personality and Scout Association chief scout Dwayne Fields.

Trump and the princess presented “Go Wild” badges to the Squirrel Scouts, who were aged 4-6.

“Congratulations,” the first lady said, applauding before two children were called up to present badges to her and the princess.

Before the badges, Trump and the princess gathered with the children to shake a parachute filled with balls. They later joined them for a picnic and a volunteer remarked to the first lady, “they’re quite taken with you.”

Trump and Kate spoke together at the beginning and end of the visit, walking side-by-side in and out of the garden.

When they first arrived, they joined the children as they were decorating leaves, drawing and building “bug hotels.”

“This is beautiful!” the first lady said, sitting with the children as a young boy showed her how to do a leaf pressing.

“He’s a happy bear, right?” she asked after filling in an outline of a bear.

She also drew a sun and grass, and the boy added a pink flower to the drawing. Meanwhile, Kate sat on the grass and spoke with some of the children about their art.

A young girl took the first lady’s hand and led her to another table with a hop-skip, then sat on her lap as she spoke to the children.

“Nice to meet you all. What are you doing? It’s so beautiful. It’s so nice,” Trump said.

While building “bug hotels” out of cardboard, the first lady asked the children to show her how.

One child asked her what her favorite bug was, and she replied, “a ladybug.”

Earlier in the day, the first lady joined Queen Camilla to tour the Royal Library in Windsor, viewing a display case featuring master drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, among others.

Trump and the queen also saw a collection of Queen Elizabeth I’s poems and drawings penned by the young princess in a prayer book from 1525-30, and Charles I’s copy of Shakespeare’s Second Folio circus from 1632. It was read by the king before his execution in 1649.
