Vice President Vance will take the mic Monday as “The Charlie Kirk Show” returns to the air. The veep announced Sunday night he would guest host.

With the government funding deadline just more than two weeks away, House Republicans are considering a continuing resolution (CR) that would keep the lights on through Nov. 20, GOP sources told The Hill.

Text of the continuing resolution (CR) has yet to be released, though Republicans have said it will largely be “clean.”

President Trump touted on Monday morning a potential deal with China over the future of TikTok, and said he would speak to Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week. In a separate post, he weighed calling a national emergency to secure the District of Columbia.

As Congress weighs how to approach the Sept. 30 funding deadline, it has a full week of hearings, including two oversight hearings of the FBI, with Director Kash Patel slated to testify. Patel has come under the spotlight for his role in the investigation into conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

In the Senate, Trump’s pick for the Fed, Stephen Miran, could get confirmed, a day ahead of the Fed board’s next meeting.

Much of the nation’s focus over the weekend was on Kirk. A public vigil on Sunday evening drew dignitaries and fans alike. NFL stadiums paid tribute.

Trump pledged to investigate left-leaning groups in connection with Kirk’s fatal shooting on Wednesday. And Vice President Vance said he would honor his friend by hosting Monday’s episode of “The Charlie Kirk Show.”

Trump on Monday will meet with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, leader of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and will sign a memorandum.
