House Republicans are set to hold an impeachment hearing for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. 

The push comes after a yearlong inquiry into the increase in border crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border, and GOP lawmakers accused the Biden administration of failing to follow immigration laws. The impeachment articles against Mayorkas are set to be marked up at the hearing Tuesday.

A formal impeachment vote in the full House could come as soon as next week.

Meanwhile, Mayorkas and Democrats have pushed back, arguing the effort to oust him is merely political.
