Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) suggested Sunday that she would not rule out backing a motion to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), saying that some promises made to her have not been kept.

ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked Mace on “This Week” if her vote to remove McCarthy would be “up for grabs” if Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) followed through with his vow to put an anti-McCarthy motion forward. She declined to comment how she would vote, but Mace noted that “some votes might be up for grabs because people were made promises that have not been kept.”

“We’ll see how it turns out, but I will tell you, I’m one of those members who were made certain promises,” Mace said. “I’ve worked on women’s issues. I’ve worked on issues you know, related to gun violence, that I feel are very important. And you know, it’s fallen on deaf ears. And if I, if I give a handshake to someone, I expect them to follow through.”

She added that “everything is on the table” when it comes to McCarthy’s Speakership, adding that she wants to follow through on her work relating to gun violence and women in the post-Roe era. When asked if she believed McCarthy would be the Speaker still by the end of the year, she said she thinks he will.

She also said she is expecting a government shutdown.

“I do think he will continue to be Speaker, but I do think it’s going to be a long, a long rest of the year,” she said.
