A helicopter carrying six passengers crashed in California Friday night near the Nevada border.

The helicopter, identified as Airbus Helicopter EC-130, by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), crashed near Nipton, Calif.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD), all six people who were on the helicopter have died.

“The identities of the deceased will be released once positive identification has been made and next of kin notifications have been made,” the SBSD said in a news release.

The department was made aware of the crash Saturday morning, officials confirmed to The Hill in an emailed statement.

“The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the NTSB are investigating the crash.
The aircraft operated by Orbic Air was headed to Boulder City, Nevada, according to multiple media reports.
