White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clashed with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy in a tense exchange during Thursday’s press briefing.
The confrontation centered on the alarming surge of illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border, with Doocy seeking clarity from the White House.
Doocy’s question was straightforward: “So, what do you call it here at the White House when 10,000 people illegally cross the border in a single day?”
In a somewhat unexpected move, Jean-Pierre chose to respond to the query with a question of her own, referencing the GOP’s actions. “So, what do you call it, Peter, when [the] GOP put forth a — wait, no, no, no, no, no, you can’t,” she interjected.
Doocy, however, remained persistent in seeking a direct answer, calmly asserting, “You’re answering my question with a question.”
The exchange grew increasingly contentious, with Jean-Pierre ultimately deciding to move on to another reporter’s inquiry. “I’m answering — OK, we’re going to move on,” she declared.
Doocy made one last plea, saying, “Karine, please.”
Nevertheless, Jean-Pierre stood her ground and firmly declared, “No, no, no, we’re moving on,” before calling on another journalist.
“You said you were stopping the flow at the border. Ten thousand migrants—” Doocy said before being cut off again.
“Peter, I tried to answer the question, and you stopped me,” Jean-Pierre snapped immediately turning her attention back to the other reporter. “Let’s go.”
The seriousness of the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border continues to escalate.
Fox News’ obtained drone footage capturing a massive group of over 2,000 migrants crossing near Eagle Pass, Texas, representing one of the largest single groups ever recorded.
According to NBC News data, border officials encountered over 7,500 migrants in a single day, including significant numbers in Texas and Arizona. As the week progressed, this number surged to over 10,000, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Sources revealed that approximately 20,000 migrants were in federal custody as of the previous month, raising questions about the capacity of the immigration system.
NBC News also reported that CBP has been releasing between 100 to 200 migrants per day onto U.S. streets shortly after their border crossings, prompting concerns about the potential consequences of such actions.
The White House continues to dodge any questions related the the overwhelming influx of illegal migrants that cross the border essentially at will with a huge number being released into the population with no end in sight. It is unclear the endgame for the administration but it does seem to lend credence to the speculation of producing more democrat voters.
