In a video message released on Thursday night, former President Donald Trump addressed the recent federal grand jury indictment, referring to it as the “boxes hoax.”

Trump highlighted past instances where his opponents and investigators failed to bring him down, emphasizing his popularity and electoral success.

Expressing concern over the state of the nation, Trump stated, “Very sadly we’re a nation in decline.” He asserted his innocence, declaring, “I’m an innocent man, I’m an innocent person.” T

Trump criticized the weaponization of the Justice Department and the FBI against him, stating, “They come after Donald Trump, weaponizing the Justice Department, weaponizing the FBI, we can’t let this continue to go on because it’s ripping our country to shreds.”

He viewed these actions as attempts to destroy his reputation to secure electoral victories, equating it to other wrongdoings during the 2020 election.

Emphatically proclaiming his innocence, Trump maintained, “I did nothing wrong.” He vowed to fight the charges, echoing his resolve to fight for the past seven years.

“And they come after Donald Trump, weaponizing the Justice Department, weaponizing the FBI, we can’t let this continue to go on because it’s ripping our country to shreds,” he continued. “They’re trying to destroy [my] reputation, so they can win an election. That’s just as bad as doing any of the other things that have been done over the last number of years, and especially during the 2020 election.”

Despite his grievances, Trump acknowledged the country’s decline and the need to restore it.

Speaking about the charges, ABC News’ Katherine Faulders reported that Trump seemed to be facing seven charges related to the willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy, a scheme to conceal, and false statements and representations.

While NBC News clarified that seven charges might not equate to seven counts, as multiple counts can be associated with each charge.

The indictment against the former president raises questions and concerns.

Conservatives who value limited government and individual liberties may wonder if the charges are politically motivated, given Trump’s previous experiences with opponents targeting him.
