In an unexpected turn of events, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and ex-CNN co-host Don Lemon both hired high-profile entertainment attorney Bryan Freedman to represent them following their firings on Monday.
Forbes reported that Freedman is renowned for representing A-list clients such as film director Quentin Tarantino, actress Gabrielle Union, Megyn Kelly, “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison, former stockbroker Jordan Belfort, Michael Jackson’s estate, and more.
Carlson’s firing from Fox News on Monday morning came as a shock to many, given his dominating presence in the network’s ratings in recent years.
Fox News released a statement announcing their decision to part ways with Carlson, thanking him for his service as a host and contributor.
The network declared that Carlson’s last program aired on Friday, April 21, and that “Fox News Tonight” would feature rotating Fox News personalities as interim hosts until a new host is named.
Shortly after Carlson’s departure from Fox News, Don Lemon announced on social media that he had also been terminated from CNN.
In a statement, Lemon explained that his agent informed him of his firing, expressing disappointment that no one in management directly communicated the decision after his 17 years at the network.
Lemon hinted at “larger issues at play” but thanked his colleagues for their work together.
CNN quickly disputed Lemon’s account of the events, stating that he was offered a meeting with management but declined to attend, choosing instead to release his statement on Twitter.
CNN Communications’ statement claimed that Lemon’s account of the morning’s events was inaccurate.
Both Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon now find themselves in similar situations, having been fired from their respective networks and hiring the same high-powered attorney to represent them.
