In an extraordinary turn of events former President Donald Trump’s legal team is preparing for a New York judge to impose a gag order on Trump just a day before he is due to be arrested in Manhattan according to a report from the Daily Mail.

This move to potentially silence a presidential candidate will likely enrage many of Trump’s supporters as he gets ready to leave his Florida residence and fly to New York City.

An inside source revealed, “The Trump legal team now thinks that the Manhattan judge will take the unprecedented step of silencing the presidential frontrunner with an unconstitutional gag order tomorrow.” In response, the team is considering enlisting a First Amendment lawyer to fight the potential order and claim they will “fight it all the way.”

If Trump were to break the gag order, he could face a $1000 fine and a prison sentence of up to 30 days under New York law.

Trump’s campaign announced on Sunday morning that he would deliver a speech at his Mar-a-Lago home on Tuesday evening after returning from New York, though this now seems uncertain.

Nevertheless, Trump continued with his Sunday plans, heading to his West Palm Beach golf club where he was seen on the course alongside one of his lawyers, Lindsey Halligan.

Jared Kushner Strongly Defends Trump as He Breaks Silence on Indictment

Also on Sunday Trump’s legal team announced plans to file a motion to immediately dismiss the case against the former president.

Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina spoke to CNN on Sunday morning, saying, “We will take the indictment. We will dissect it. The team will look at every, every potential issue that we will be able to challenge, and we will challenge. And of course, I very much anticipate a motion to dismiss coming because there’s no law that fits this.”

These developments mark the latest twists in a rapidly unfolding story that began on Thursday when it was reported that a Manhattan jury had voted to indict the former president.

While the charges remain sealed, they are believed to be related to a $130,000 hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for pursuing a case that had already been dropped by federal prosecutors.

He has also targeted Manhattan’s Acting Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who will preside over the case and is thought to be preparing the gag order.

A Trump campaign source confirmed that they are getting ready for this potential scenario.

Here Are the First Steps That Trump’s Lawyers Are Expected to Make After His Arraignment

Later, a spokesman stated, “President Trump stands for transparency and our American Constitution, and any attempt to prevent him, the leading candidate for president, from exercising his First Amendment right is a tyrannical, third-world country move which further proves that this is nothing more than a political witch-hunt utilizing a weaponized justice system.”

The spokesman continued, “All Americans should be concerned about their rights being violated and any attempt to obstruct President Trump’s right to use his voice in order to speak truth to power should never be tolerated. The whole targeted crusade is a complete political farce by the Manhattan DA meant to manipulate and interfere with an election against President Trump and his supporters.”
