The Satanic Temple (TST) just unveiled another revolting display, this time at the Michigan State Capitol.
This comes shortly after an incident in Iowa where a Christian veteran decapitated their Baphomet statue, protesting against what he saw as a growing acceptance of Satan in society.
The Michigan display, a collective effort of TST members from across the state, features two “yule goats” — a reference to an old Nordic pagan tradition.
One of these goats bears a striking resemblance to TST’s logo, with a prominent goat skull.
Minister of Satan Bender Bones from TST described this display as an opportunity for their members to celebrate their achievements and the diversity of religious beliefs.
These displays, including the one in Michigan, were created by three TST chapters: Lansing’s TST Candidate congregation, TST West Michigan, and TST Detroit.
Adding to their list of displays, TST also installed a Sol Invictus tree, which represents a Roman pagan tradition, at the National Railroad Museum in Wisconsin.
Following the destruction of their Iowa statue, TST started a fundraising campaign, successfully attracting 77 contributions so far.
This series of events, especially the erection and subsequent destruction of the Iowa statue, has caught the attention of many, including political figures like Republican Governor Kim Reynolds.
The strong reactions from various quarters point to a deep-seated conflict between traditional Christian beliefs and the Satanic Temple’s forthright representations of Satan.
