In the face of sustained criticism from major news outlets such as Bloomberg and Rolling Stone, Jim Caviezel’s anti-child-trafficking film, “Sound of Freedom,” is witnessing an outstanding turnout at movie theaters across the nation.
This summer, the film has become an unexpected blockbuster, proving once again that the American people appreciate stories of faith, courage, and the fight against injustice.
“Sound of Freedom,” a film driven by faith and produced on a modest budget, portrays the real-life story of Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad.
This organization is passionately dedicated to rescuing children ensnared in the horrors of sex trafficking. As of last Wednesday, the film had achieved an impressive milestone, collecting over $100 million in US box office revenue since its July 4 debut.
Competing against mainstream film giants, “Sound of Freedom” clinched second place behind Paramount Pictures’ latest installment of Mission: Impossible last weekend, even surpassing Disney’s most recent Indiana Jones offering.
According to Variety, “Sound of Freedom” is the “first indie release in post-pandemic times to surpass $100 million at the domestic box office,” and currently stands as the “16th-highest-grossing North American release of the year.”
Jared Geesey, SVP of global distribution at Angel Studios, hailed “Sound of Freedom” as the “people’s movie.” In Geesey’s words, the film stands in contrast to the top-down system propagated by Hollywood, instead empowering people to choose, fund, and share stories that “amplify light and impact culture.”
Despite Angel Studios’ confirmation that the film is based on the true and moving story of “Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent, who courageously combats human trafficking,” several mainstream media outlets have launched a crusade against the film.
These outlets have unjustly attempted to align it with conspiracy theorists, misrepresenting the film’s core message and mission.
The film’s release coincides with the ongoing public scrutiny around disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.
Recently, the US Virgin Islands stated in a court filing that they are seeking nearly $200 million from JPMorgan Chase for their alleged failure to detect and report Epstein’s heinous operation.
Undeterred by mainstream media’s relentless and often unfounded criticisms, American audiences continue to show their support by filling theater seats.
This shift in public consciousness, coupled with a growing awareness of the realities of human trafficking, is challenging the narratives traditionally controlled by legacy media. As the success of “Sound of Freedom” shows, the voice of the American people remains strong, embracing truth over sensationalism, and courage over complacency.
