NextImg:Rudy Giuliani Files for Bankruptcy after Losing Legal Battle to the Tune of $148 Million

Rudy Giuliani, once a major figure in New York City and a personal lawyer to former President Donald Trump, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

This move came right after he was ordered to pay a massive $148.2 million for wrongly accusing two Georgia election workers of fraud during the 2020 Presidential election. Giuliani, facing significant legal debts and unpaid taxes, turned to Chapter 11 to manage his financial crisis.

Giuliani’s allegations were part of a wider claim, supported by Trump, that the election was stolen. These claims have been widely dismissed and have led Giuliani into serious legal trouble.

He targeted Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, with these fraud accusations. However, a federal court in Washington, D.C., found these claims to be false and awarded Freeman and Moss a default judgment in August, leading to the recent massive fine against Giuliani.

Reacting to the fine, Giuliani expressed disbelief and defiance. He described the amount as ridiculous and the court proceedings as extremely unfair.

“The absurdity of the number merely underscores the absurdity of the entire proceeding,” Giuliani stated, firmly believing that the decision will be overturned once reviewed by “a fair tribunal.”

This bankruptcy filing is more than just a personal financial crisis for Giuliani. It reflects the broader consequences faced by those closely linked to Trump’s claims of a rigged election.

As Giuliani prepares to appeal the decision, his case continues to attract national attention. It’s a significant development in the ongoing story of the 2020 election’s contentious aftermath and the legal battles that continue to emerge from it.
