Comedian Rob Schneider, known for his film and television career, took to Twitter to call on parents, coaches, and biologically female athletes to “refuse to play against” biologically male transgender athletes, arguing that the situation has gone too far.
Schneider, who has 1.5 million followers, expressed his concerns in response to a recent incident involving North Carolina high school female volleyball player Payton McNabb, who suffered a concussion and additional injuries after being spiked in the face by a transgender male athlete during a game.
In his tweet, Schneider emphasized that if parents, coaches, and female athletes all refuse to play against transgender male athletes, the situation could be resolved.
He also shared a tweet from former swimming champion Riley Gaines, who has made headlines for speaking out against forcing females to compete against biological males in sports.
Gaines, a former University of Kentucky star, lost an NCAA award to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who was born male but identifies as female.
Gaines’ tweet included a video of Payton McNabb discussing her injuries and the dangers of allowing biological males to compete against biological females in women’s sports.
McNabb stated that she continues to suffer from impaired vision, partial paralysis on her right side, constant headaches, and anxiety and depression as a result of her injuries.
Additionally, her ability to learn, retain, and comprehend has been affected, necessitating accommodations at school for testing.
Schneider, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, has been vocal about his political views, recently discussing his decision to leave the Democratic Party due to its increasingly extreme stances.
He believes that the party wants to control every aspect of people’s lives, prompting him to move from California to the “slightly freer state of Arizona.”
The ongoing debate surrounding transgender athletes in women’s sports has become a hot-button issue across the United States.
Many argue that allowing biological males who identify as females to compete against biologically female athletes is unfair and poses safety risks.
In contrast, others believe that transgender individuals should be allowed to participate in sports based on their gender identity.
Schneider’s call for a united stance among parents, coaches, and female athletes may resonate with those who are concerned about the impact of transgender athletes on women’s sports.
