The recent FBI search of a prominent Democratic official’s residence in Florida has been linked to the release of confidential information involving Tucker Carlson, as per a report released on Friday.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, federal agents executed a search warrant at the home of Tampa City Council member Lynn Hurtak and her husband, media consultant Tim Burke.
Tucker Carlson, who was recently dismissed from Fox News, has been the subject of several strategic leaks.
Left-wing organization Media Matters published off-air recordings containing inappropriate comments made by Carlson.
Critics on the conservative side have accused Fox News of deliberately leaking the footage in an attempt to tarnish Carlson’s reputation following his unexpected departure from the network.
Sources familiar with the matter have informed the Tampa Bay Times that the raid is connected to an ongoing FBI investigation into the leaks.
In a letter obtained by Fox News, a federal prosecutor outlined the details of the investigation.
It focuses on alleged computer hacking and intercepted communications related to the network.
The raid was carried out on May 8, according to the report.
The Tampa Bay Times also reported that Tim Burke has previously worked for left-leaning news outlets such as Deadspin and The Daily Beast.
However, when asked for comment by the Times, Burke declined to provide any statements.
Prosecutors have made a request to the court to seal a probable cause affidavit, which is the basis for the search of Burke’s home, as reported by The Daily Beast.
