In a recent investigation, watchdog group Canary Mission has leveled serious allegations against Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., claiming that she has “extensive fundraising ties to Hamas supporters” and hired activists with connections to the terrorist organization for her 2018 campaign fundraising efforts.

The congresswoman has previously been accused of antisemitism and has attracted criticism for her unwillingness to remove a social media post that implicated Israel in a Palestinian Islamic Jihad attack on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to Canary Mission, one of the individuals Tlaib employed for her campaign fundraising had served eight months in prison for “alleged connections to Hamas.”

Additionally, the watchdog accused Tlaib of utilizing a “pro-terror Facebook page, PAC-USA,” to amass funds for her 2018 election campaign.

Going back to 2015, Canary Mission states that Tlaib co-founded a Detroit-based group known as Black4Palestine, described as “anti-American, anti-Israel and pro-terror.”

A co-founder of Black4Palestine reportedly collaborated with members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, an organization that, like Hamas, was designated as a terrorist group by Washington in 1997.

Responding to the revelations, Adam Kredo, a senior Washington Free Beacon reporter, called the findings “truly wild,” tweeting that they “appear to show a direct line from Hamas supporters to Tlaib’s financial channels.”

These allegations, if substantiated, could have significant implications for Tlaib, potentially threatening her political career and raising ethical and legal questions.

The claims also add another layer of complexity to the fraught discussions around campaign financing, terrorism, and the responsibilities of elected officials to vet their financial backers scrupulously.
