Renowned Jewish playwright David Mamet has slammed the Democratic Party over its stance on Jewish issues.

In his essay titled “How the Democrats betrayed the Jews: The sick thrill of antisemitism has a price,” he calls on Jewish voters to reconsider their support for the party, drawing parallels between today’s political climate and historical prejudices against Jews.

Mamet’s essay highlights what he believes is an alarming growth of antisemitism within the Democratic Party.

He points out actions such as the decisions of some Presidents to not meet with Israeli Prime Ministers during peaceful times and the provision of aid to Iran.

Mamet argues that this aid indirectly funds actions against Jewish people. “American ‘Aid’ to Iran pays for the equipment and ordnance, which is, at this moment, eradicating Jews,” he wrote.

Mamet also criticizes certain Democratic Representatives, suggesting that they are affiliated with Democratic Socialists and pro-Palestinian groups.

He claims that these Representatives advocate for the end of Israel, which he sees as equivalent to calling for the “death of the Jews.”

He further accuses these Representatives of spreading false information about Israel’s actions, like a supposed hospital bombing, even when evidence disproves these claims. He states, “The writing is on the wall. In blood.”

Looking back at history, Mamet recalls the experiences of German Jews in the 1930s.

He believes that many ignored the looming threats, and he sees similarities with today’s liberal American Jews.

He asks, “Good God, didn’t you see what was happening around you? Are you literally willing to die rather than admit you were mistaken?”

Mamet is critical of the media’s portrayal of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

He feels most media outlets side with Palestine and are quick to criticize Israel.

He views calls for a ceasefire as mere pauses for Hamas to gather strength. For him, the false stories, like the hospital bombing claim, reflect a deep-seated bias against Jews.

Mamet paints a picture of Jewish history, highlighting the community’s vulnerability to various forms of oppression, from pogroms and Crusades to the dictatorships of Hitler and Stalin.

He describes Jews as the “battered wife of the West,” consistently mistreated and exploited. Despite their pleas for fair treatment, Mamet feels they have been taken advantage of, especially by those in positions of power.

He notes that while the establishment of the Jewish State in 1948 changed the status of Jews, the ingrained habits of some liberal Jews have not evolved. He suggests that these Jews still seek validation from entities that might not truly value their worth.

Concluding his essay, Mamet uses the metaphor of a carnival barker to convey the dangers of antisemitism. He warns that falling for these prejudices comes at a cost to society’s reasoning and moral compass.

Following the release of his essay, Mamet spoke with Fox News, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right educational institutions for the Jewish youth.

Expressing concerns about antisemitic sentiments in top academic institutions, he advised Jewish parents to think twice before enrolling their children in such places.

Drawing a bold comparison, he commented, “Because for a Jew to send his or her son or daughter to these elite institutions because they’re going to make connections is the same thing as putting their daughter in a brothel because they’re going to meet powerful men there.”

David Mamet’s essay and subsequent comments shine a light on his deep concerns regarding perceived antisemitism in the Democratic Party and society at large.
