NextImg:Ray Liotta Receives Posthumous Emmy Nomination For Last Role Before His Death

The television community paid tribute to the late Ray Liotta this Wednesday, posthumously nominating the veteran actor for an Emmy for his work in the acclaimed crime drama, “Black Bird.”

Liotta’s daughter, Karsen Liotta, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Television Academy for recognizing her father’s performance.

“I am so grateful to the members of the Television Academy for honoring my Dad with this nomination,” she stated to Fox News Digital.

“He was so incredibly proud of his performance in ‘Black Bird,’ and it would mean the world to him to be nominated alongside Taron [Egerton] and Paul [Walter Hauser].”

The young Liotta, 24, also used her Instagram platform to extend her pride in her father’s achievement.

In another show of support, Jacy Nittolo, Liotta’s fiancée, called the nomination “well deserved” via her Instagram Story.

Liotta’s compelling portrayal as Taron Egerton’s father in the Apple TV+ series enhanced the gripping narrative of a drug dealer, played by Egerton, who enters a risky arrangement with the FBI to draw out a confession from a suspected serial killer, a role inhabited by Walter Hauser.

Liotta, along with co-stars Egerton and Walter Hauser, all received Emmy nods for their respective roles in “Black Bird,” which debuted on Apple TV+ a year prior.

The critically appreciated series also picked up a nomination for its standout cinematography.

The crime drama, claiming inspiration from actual events, revolves around Jimmy Keene (Egerton) who, after landing in prison, receives a life-altering offer: secure a confession from suspected killer Larry Hall (Walter Hauser), and he’ll walk free.

The task, as described on Apple TV+’s website, becomes “the challenge of a lifetime.”

Liotta, sadly, passed away in his sleep on May 26, 2022, while filming “Dangerous Waters” in the Dominican Republic.

A year later, Nittolo, still grappling with the enormity of the loss, reflected on Instagram about the grief and growth she experienced, writing, “My entire world unexpectedly turned upside down… It’s been a heavy year of pain, heartache, healing, growing and accepting what is.”

Despite the pain, Nittolo’s message underlines a resilient spirit and a belief in the power of family and perseverance.

“No time will change a loss so great. You just learn to live with it and keep going, trusting that all will be okay,” she penned. “Karsen, Dax, Chazz, Jade and Joey…. You keep me going every single day.”
