NextImg:Prominent Podcast Host Predicts Trump Will Drop Out Of 2024 Race: 'Plea' Is The New Liberal Narrative

During a recent episode of the influential “Pivot” podcast, liberal co-host and NYU professor Scott Galloway shared his perspective on the political trajectory of former President Donald Trump. Galloway put forth his prediction that Trump would not pursue another presidential run due to a forthcoming plea deal.

As Galloway and co-host Kara Swisher were discussing, Swisher sought clarity on Galloway’s audacious prediction. “I think President Trump is not going to run for president under the auspices of a plea deal,” asserted Galloway. Swisher’s response was immediate and startled: “What?!”

To put this into context, Trump pleaded not guilty in April to charges from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office concerning alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. Additionally, Trump was indicted on 37 federal counts in June, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and false statements.

The puzzled Swisher probed further, “Where is that coming from? No one says that stuff.”

It was here Galloway revealed that Chris Christie, former New Jersey governor and GOP presidential candidate, had expressed a somewhat parallel sentiment.

In fact, Chris Christie has been suggesting that Trump would take a plea deal. Just last week, Christie said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” “I’m telling you, no matter what he says, no matter how he’s bragging and going on and on about him not being afraid, he goes to bed every night thinking about the sound of that jail cell door closing behind him…When push comes to shove, I’m not so sure he won’t take a plea.”

Galloway continued opining about the GOP primary race. “I actually think Governor Christie is going to surpass DeSantis and be the number two. But I don’t think it will matter…” Galloway stated.

Reflecting on Trump’s current lifestyle, he added, “He has a very nice life, and his life can be going back to golf and sycophants and having sex with porn stars, which I think is a good thing… I’m not being cynical.”

The professor also observed the potential threat of incarceration looming over Trump. “I think the laws specifically around these state secrets, I think that he has it, running for president and the momentum he has is real leverage of power and I think he’s going to cash that leverage of power for a plea deal that includes no jail time,” Galloway shared his outlook.

He added a conjecture, that the Department of Justice or “whoever is in charge” would likely declare, “this is just bad for America” and propose a deal absolving him of jail time. Galloway rationalized this by remarking, “If he goes to jail for one year, it’s probably a death sentence. I don’t think someone at this age ever recovers from being incarcerated.”

Galloway’s concluded his discourse with the remark that his anticipated plea deal “feels like a pretty good deal for everybody.” If Trump were to run and lose, with ongoing legal cases, Galloway feels this could potentially motivate a plea deal, thereby allowing Trump to avoid the limelight and the potential consequences that may come with it.

Galloway and Christie are not the only ones suggesting an imminent plea deal. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has also been touting the idea of a plea deal for Trump in exchange for his leaving the race.

“What would Donald Trump do to avoid jail time? I guess — I literally suppose — that he would do anything,” Maddow said.

“And if it’s going to come to him avoiding jail time, now that this indictment exists, he’s either going to have to win in court defending yourself against these charges — by saying, ‘Yes, I did it” is not a great defense — so how else can you avoid jail time?” she continued.

“Well, you can plea in exchange for leniency,” Maddow declared.

It would seem the left will continue to pursue Trump legally every opportunity they can muster, including a new grand jury review of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Now they have set the narrative, take a plea deal and go away quietly. It incredible to watch the taking down of the GOP front runner in a presidential election campaign.
