In Texas, the Grapevine Police Department has been subjected to unwarranted criticism over a simple Facebook post involving Bud Light. The post, an alcohol awareness effort, sparked a surprising wave of backlash, largely from those on the progressive left.
The department used the image of four Bud Light cans to warn of the dangers of driving under the influence.
Their message was straightforward: “Our officers work hard to keep the roads safe. This week, our officer discovered several cans of beer during an inspection. The truck’s driver was taken out of service for 24 hours.”
Despite the post’s clear public safety intent, critics quickly flooded the comments section, accusing the department of promoting hate, racism, and homophobia.
Oddly, some critics also targeted the truck driver for his preference for Bud Light.
Among the harsh comments, some demanded that the department remove ‘Integrity’ and ‘Equity’ decals from their vehicles.
Others claimed the department used its platform unprofessionally to promote hate.

One comment read, “Disgusting homophobic, transphobic garbage. Your office should be ashamed of itself. Look at all the hate and bullying you generated with this unnecessary and discriminatory post.”
In response to this unjustified criticism, the department removed the post, but the damage was done.
This incident is indicative of a wider issue – an increasingly hostile environment where even a public safety message can be misconstrued as a form of discrimination.
It’s a troubling development that distracts from genuine issues that warrant attention.
Simultaneously, Bud Light, a well-known beer brand, has experienced decreased popularity.
Sales have fallen for three months, and Dylan Mulvaney, a significant cause of Bud Light’s problems, temporarily left the country due to alleged safety concerns. This turmoil has resulted in a $30 billion stock loss.
Ultimately, this incident shows the urgent need for focused discussion on real issues rather than distracting debates over innocuous social media posts.
