Country music stalwart Lee Greenwood, recognized nationwide for his patriotic anthem “God Bless the USA” and an impressive musical repertoire spanning several decades, has inaugurated an extensive project in support of America’s veterans. The respected musician believes that supporting our nation’s veterans is part of his divine calling.
The Nashville native is leveraging a tribute concert as an opportunity to salute America’s veterans. Greenwood explained to Fox News Digital, “I continue to do the job that I believe I’m cut out to do by God, which is to take care of our country and our families and our veterans.”
The concert’s highlight, a film named “All-Star Salute to Lee Greenwood,” will make its grand debut in movie theaters on Sunday, Nov. 12. The film features performances from an array of stars, including Dustin Lynch, Lee Brice, Michael Ray, Michael W. Smith, The Oak Ridge Boys, and many others.
The public can support this initiative by sponsoring a veteran, along with their spouse or caregiver, to attend this premiere.
Greenwood expressed his gratitude to his fellow artists, saying, “I couldn’t believe so many great artists came to honor my music.”
He added that the opportunity to “share that special night with veterans, first responders and country music fans with a premiere presentation in theaters is a perfect way to celebrate my 40-year career, which has included honoring so many of them.”
The exclusive event will be unveiled during Veterans Day weekend on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, a fitting tribute to those who have valiantly served our country. In a partnership with Concerts 4 A Cause, a non-profit organization, Greenwood aims to provide 50,000 veterans across the U.S. with free access to the film.
Greenwood’s anthem, “God Bless the USA,” has become a staple at every U.S. military retirement ceremony and has been performed at significant events, such as the Super Bowl halftime show and the World Series.
Greenwood, while acknowledging the immense impact of the song on his career, insisted that the song is not a safety net for his success. “I tour a lot,” he shared, maintaining his focus on honoring those who have devoted their lives to safeguarding our country. He is working closely with Adopt a Vet for this cause.
The concert event will feature several stars, including William Lee Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys.
He highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “Through Adopt a Vet, we all can help support those veterans and give them a night out on the town. Oh, and to honor Lee Greenwood for his 40-year career and his long-serving patriotism is just the icing on the cake.”
In his career, Greenwood has played for nine U.S. presidents, irrespective of their political affiliations, a testament to his unparalleled musical journey.
Besides playing for President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan, Greenwood has also performed at four presidents’ inaugurations, most recently at Donald Trump’s in January 2017.
Greenwood regularly acknowledges the steadfast support from his wife, Kim, to whom he has been married for 31 years and has two sons with.
“I’m blessed beyond my personal imagination for my wife and my family,” he said, adding, “She’s been loyal and steadfast and I always want to honor her in everything I do.”
