In an inspiring display of Christian values and charitable spirit, 12-year-old Meredith Allen from Mobile, Alabama has captured the hearts of her community by baking nearly 2,000 cinnamon rolls for a noble cause.
The Alabama Baptist first reported on this heartwarming story that exemplifies the power of God driven selflessness and determination.
Meredith, the daughter of Derek and Lindsay Allen, devoted countless hours to her baking venture, and her parents couldn’t be prouder.
“She could’ve been playing with friends or sleeping in,” Lindsay remarked, “but the way God was using that to grow her character was really great.”
The God-breathed endeavor was inspired by an ingenious idea that Meredith had when her father became the pastor of First Baptist Tillman’s Corner.
Every year, the boys and girls attending Vacation Bible School (VBS) engaged in a friendly competition to determine which group could contribute the largest offering.
Unfortunately, the boys seemed to always come out on top.
Undeterred, Meredith took matters into her own hands and organized a bake sale to level the playing field.
Through her determined efforts, she raised approximately $800, a significant sum that ensured victory for the girls’ team after Meredith cleverly exchanged the money for pennies.
With this year being Meredith’s final opportunity to attend VBS, she decided to make it truly special.
Vacation Bible School became the focal point of her fundraising efforts.
Meredith diligently baked cinnamon rolls, week after week, throughout June, as a labor-intensive project that required unwavering commitment.
To promote her bake sale, she enlisted the help of her mother, who posted about it on social media and spread the word.
The message, shared by Derek Allen on June 24, read, “Help Meredith raise money for the VBS missions AND enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls. It’s a win-win.”
The Mobile community rallied behind Meredith’s cause, with church congregants and neighbors offering their assistance.
The bake sale became a heart warming and God inspired opportunity for the Allen family to forge new friendships and strengthen community bonds and hopefully build the church her Dad led in the process.
Together, they worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the project.
The fruits of Meredith’s labor were successful, as she and her family managed to raise $2,610.
Lindsay proudly shared a photo on Friday, showcasing 12 year old Meredith surrounded by boxes overflowing with the pennies that were collected for the offering.
It is a testament to the power of determination and dedication to Christ’s love that a young girl’s hard work can make such a profound impact.
Social media users were quick to shower Meredith with praise for her dedication.
As a community, let us celebrate and support the exceptional endeavors of individuals like Meredith Allen, who remind us of the importance of compassion, determination, and faith in making the world a better place.
