In a dramatic turn of events in Houston, a felon’s attempted robbery went awry when his targets – a heavily pregnant woman and her husband – valiantly defended themselves, using their legally owned firearms.

The woman had parked in front of the All Season Food Store, her husband’s place of employment, intending to deliver food to him.

However, danger lurked nearby in a silver SUV where two armed men were biding their time.

In her own words, the woman recounted, “I got out of my car, and immediately, the guy in the passenger seat of the silver car got out with an AR and told me that I startled him.”

She indicated the man’s words were charged with more vocal intensity.

Unyielding, the woman declared, “No, they were not taking out my baby daddy before July 11.”

She called her husband for help, who stepped out to confront the threat.

According to the husband, the armed robber, identified as 39-year-old felon Mario Duque, repeatedly questioned him, “Do you want to die tonight?”

The couple’s second amendment rights, and their preparedness to exercise them, proved pivotal.

“Thank God we had our guns,” the woman remarked. “I’ve never been happier to be a gun carrier.”

After shooting the assailant, they held Duque at gunpoint until emergency responders arrived.

The husband recalled a bystander advising the wounded felon, “Hey man, if you think you’re dying, you might as well pray to God for forgiveness.”

Duque was subsequently arrested by the police and remains hospitalized.

He now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

As per The New York Post, “One of the suspects was shot multiple times and the other fled in a green Dodge Charger.”

Remarkably, neither the husband nor wife were injured. “When police arrived at the scene, they found the couple, who had called 911, holding the wounded suspect at gunpoint.”

This episode underlines the significance of the Second Amendment in enabling law-abiding citizens to protect themselves when the worst threatens.

It’s a vital right for individuals to defend their lives and loved ones, underscoring the importance of upholding our constitutional freedoms even in the face of adversity.
