During the recent outbreak of war between Israel and the Hamas militants, MSNBC experienced a 33% drop in its primetime viewership. In the span of four days, from October 7 to 10, the channel’s viewer figures were down by 24% overall.
In stark contrast, rival news outlets reported increases in their viewership. Fox News’s audience grew by 42%, while CNN observed a 17% boost in their viewer count.
Dylan Byers, a reporter for Puck media, commented on MSNBC’s performance, stating, “‘These numbers tell you a lot about MSNBC, which excels at Trump-era liberal therapy but can’t match others during global historic events.”
Missing from Byer’s analysis is the fact the MSNBC’s coverage of the war has skewed towards the side of Hamas and the Palestinians, which sickens most American viewers.
The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Over 1,200 Israelis have tragically lost their lives due to attacks by Hamas. Conversely, Israeli counter strikes on Gaza have resulted in the death of 1,100 individuals. Notably, MSNBC has taken the approach of publishing a joint death toll, differentiating it from other news outlets.
Fox News correspondent, Trey Yingst, was among those who covered an attack on a kibbutz by Hamas over the weekend. Similarly, reports emerged of the grim scene in Kfar Aza on Tuesday, where victims lost their lives during a Hamas attack.
The 33% drop in viewers tells you all you need to know about what the public thinks of MSNBC’s coverage of the conflict.
A particularly telling example of MSNBC’s bias occurred when Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC interviewed an Israeli mother, Renana Gomeh.
Gomeh’s two sons, aged 12 and 16, were kidnapped by Hamas.
During the interview, Gomeh’s frustration was obvious when woke MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asked her about her feelings regarding the attacks in Gaza.
This mother had an understandably harsh response to Mitchell who never saw it coming “You’re looking for a symmetrical situation, and I must say, it isn’t. If you were dealing with of a war who is between two countries, countries don’t take children hostages, I’m sorry. It’s against the laws of war. It’s against humanity. It’s against anything that we all believe in.”
“Every time we had missiles shot at us, I used to say to my children that they should be sympathetic towards the children of Gaza because they suffer a lot more than they do. I’m not sure I still believe in it now.”
“And I must say, the only worry I have now from the bombings in Gaza is the fact that my children are there. And I can’t be sympathetic anymore. I can’t be sympathetic to animal human beings — well, they’re, not really human beings — who came into my house, broke everything, stole everything, took my children from their patrons, and took them to the Gaza Strip.”
“Israel never done that and it will never do. So, there is no symmetry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for being so emotional.”
MSNBC has yet to respond to the criticism surrounding their coverage.
