Legendary Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman recently slammed both Black History Month and the term “African-American,” calling them both insulting in an interview with London’s The Sunday Times.

Freeman expressed his dislike of both concepts, questioning their relevance and impact on society.

Freeman stated, “Two things I can say publicly that I do not like. Black History Month is an insult. You’re going to relegate my history to a month?”

He continued, “Also ‘African-American’ is an insult. I don’t subscribe to that title. Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word, and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American’. What does it really mean?”

The Oscar-winning actor added that referring to Africa as if it were a country rather than a continent, like Europe, is misleading.

He also said most black people in the Western world have mixed ancestry.

This is not the first time Freeman has voiced his opposition to Black History Month.

In a widely-circulated 2005 interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, Freeman told correspondent Mike Wallace, “I don’t want a Black History Month.” When Wallace asked how to eliminate racism, Freeman responded, “Stop talking about it.”

A decade later, Freeman expanded on his views, suggesting that if people acknowledge their inherent biases and work toward acceptance, society can progress.

He stated, “If we accept that…in fact, we are all bigots, that we are hardwired to be biased, then we can accept that, ‘OK, that’s going to be the first thing in our brains, but the second thing in our brains can be our cautious efforts at acceptance.'”

In 2021, Freeman also expressed his disapproval of the left’s “Defund the Police” movement.

He argued that police are necessary and that most officers perform their duties well.

The actor’s outspokenness on these issues puts him at odds with the majority of Hollywood and is a breath of fresh air and sanity in a crazy mixed up world.
