Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa has called out President Joe Biden over his immigration policies, pointing out their effects on military families.
The issue at hand is the cancellation of hotel bookings for families planning to attend the Army-Navy Game in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
Ernst claims these cancellations are a direct result of the Biden administration’s policy to move illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, leading to hotels being occupied by these migrants.
In her letter, quoted by Fox News, Ernst states, “It’s clear: these cancellations are due to your administration’s decision to ship illegal immigrants across the country to sanctuary cities at taxpayers’ expense.”
She also blames Biden’s border policy for allowing a large number of illegal immigrants into the U.S., which has now impacted the attendance of military families at the game.
Massachusetts has a law that ensures temporary housing for migrants.
This law has led to hotels near the venue of the Army-Navy Game being used for migrant housing, as reported by CBS News.
Travel agent Mark Mansbach, who has worked with military families attending the Army-Navy Game for years, told Fox News that he’s never seen such a large number of cancellations – about 60 from various hotels.
In her letter, Ernst highlights the importance of the Army-Navy game, scheduled for December 9 at Gillette Stadium.
She describes it as a key event for military recruitment and a platform to honor young service members.
Ernst views it as an event where veterans can celebrate the upcoming generation of military personnel.
Ernst criticizes the Biden administration for the increase in crime and the crisis in housing migrants in cities across the U.S.
She concludes in her letter, “Simply put, your administration’s mismanagement at the border is causing American cities to be overrun and vital resources to be stretched beyond capacity.”
She urges Biden to prioritize border security.
