New York City’s Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded that the cause of actor Treat Williams’ death was due to “severe trauma and blood loss.”
The tragic incident occurred two months ago on June 12, when Williams, aged 71, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on Route 30 near Dorset, Vermont.
Local fire chief Jacob Gribble confirmed that the crash involved a single car colliding with Williams’ motorcycle. Investigators believe that the driver of the other vehicle failed to notice the actor on his motorcycle, leading to the accident.
Police issued ‘a citation on a charge of grossly negligent operation with death’ to 35-year-old Ryan Koss of Vermont — the driver involved in the fatal crash.
Following the collision, Williams was airlifted by a LifeNet helicopter to a hospital in New York, where he was later pronounced dead.
Barry McPherson, Williams’ agent, expressed his devastation over the loss of the actor. McPherson recounted the tragic accident, stating, “He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off.”
He also fondly remembered Williams as a talented and kind individual, adding, “He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.” McPherson highlighted the actor’s extensive career in Hollywood, referring to him as an “actor’s actor” who had captured the hearts of filmmakers since the late 1970s.
Treat Williams was widely recognized for his role as Dr. Andrew Brown on the television series “Everwood” from 2002 to 2006, and he made notable appearances in films like “Hair” (1979) and Steven Spielberg’s “Heart of Dixie.”
His talents were not confined to the screen, as he also showcased his acting prowess on Broadway.
The actor is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children.
Treat Williams’ sudden passing has left a void in the entertainment industry, where he had made a lasting impact with his impressive career and warm personality.
His contributions to film, television, and theater will undoubtedly be remembered and cherished by his fans and peers alike.
