In a move that shows an innovative approach to the fast-food industry, McDonald’s has recently begun offering wedding packages, if you get married in Indonesia.
For the equivalent of $233, or 3.5 million Indonesian rupiahs, betrothed couples can avail of wedding packages that provide their guests with 100 chicken burgers and 100 four-packs of nuggets.
Typically, these chicken burgers retail for around $1.30 each (19,500 Indonesian rupiahs) and a pack of four nuggets costs $1.73 (26,000 Indonesian rupiahs).
The discounted package offers customers savings of approximately $70, further reinforcing McDonald’s commitment to offering affordable, quality products.
McDonald’s Indonesia Twitter announced the option.
“McD’ers, let’s make your wedding moment more memorable with the Wedding Mekdi package! For only IDR 3.5 million, you can get 100 pcs of Chicken Burger & 100 packages of McNuggets containing 4 pcs. There are various other attractive package options available with a minimum order of 200 pcs. Psstt..” (as translated by Google).
McDonald’s reassured its patrons that additional packages are accessible provided a minimum order of 200 items is met. This allows couples to customize their menu while still enjoying the comforts of their beloved fast-food brand.
Moreover, McDonald’s has even extended the option of setting up dedicated food stalls at wedding venues.
However, it’s important to clarify, as McDonald’s Indonesia informed The Sun US, that these packages are strictly limited to catering services. Holding an actual wedding ceremony at one of McDonald’s Indonesian branches is currently not part of the deal.
In contrast, Hong Kong branches of the chain have been providing a complete wedding experience since 2011.
These wedding packages encompass a range of services, from sending out invites to decorating the venue with balloons, and even providing a tiered apple pie “cake”.
The starting package, dubbed the “Happiness Party”, is priced at just £300 (around $400, or 2,999 Hong Kong dollars). This package includes a two-hour venue hire, sound system, food up to the value of £100 ($130 or 1,000 Hong Kong dollars), and decorative elements.
While some might see it as an unconventional approach, these novel catering and wedding options deliver consumer-friendly pricing given the average cost of a wedding these days, upwards of $20,000 in the United States.
