KISS singer Paul Stanley reversed his position on Thursday after previously condemning the normalization of gender reassignment surgery for children, describing it as a “sad and dangerous fad.”
Stanley’s initial statement gained significant attention online, and it appears that the pressure from various quarters led to his subsequent backtracking.
In his new statement, Stanley wrote on Twitter, “While my thoughts were clear, my words clearly were not. Most importantly and above all else, I support those struggling with their sexual identity while enduring constant hostility and those whose path leads them to reassignment surgery.” He added, “It’s hard to fathom the kind of conviction that one must feel to take those steps.”
Stanley concluded by noting that a short paragraph could not fully convey his thoughts on the matter and that he would leave it for another time and place.
The 71-year-old singer’s initial comments sparked both praise and backlash from social media users.
Stanley had called out those who push transgender ideology on children, arguing that there is a significant difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing or even encouraging a lifestyle that can confuse young children about their sexual identity.

He emphasized that some adults mistakenly equate teaching acceptance with normalizing a situation that has become a “sad and dangerous fad” for children who lack a genuine understanding of sexuality or sexual experiences.
Stanley originally wrote, “There ARE individuals who as adults may decide reassignment is their needed choice, but turning this into a game or parents normalizing it as some sort of natural alternative or believing that because a little boy likes to play dress up in his sister’s clothes or a girl in her brother’s, we should lead them steps further down a path that’s far from the innocence of what they are doing.”
His tweet attracted millions of views within hours of posting, generating a wide range of responses.
Critics on the left accused Stanley of hypocrisy, pointing to lyrics from KISS songs like “Christine Sixteen,” which sexualized underage girls.
Others praised his courage for voicing his opinion on a controversial topic.
Stanley’s change of heart illustrates the challenges that many public figures, especially those in the entertainment world, face when expressing an opinion that goes against the dominant left wing narrative of the moment.
It seems that the mounting pressure from within and on the outside of his circle forced the rock legend to reconsider his stance and publicly backtrack.
