At a recent New York Times summit, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, backed Nikki Haley for the Republican presidential nomination to get a choice ‘better than Trump.’
He addressed a predominantly liberal audience, which included Disney’s Bob Iger and hedge fund leader Bill Ackman, advocating for Haley as a preferable option over former President Donald Trump.
Dimon’s message was straightforward: “Even if you’re a very liberal Democrat, I urge you, help Nikki Haley, too,” he stated.
“Get a choice on the Republican side that might be better than [Donald] Trump.”
This shows Dimon’s strategy to attempt to sway the Republican nomination process using the influence of liberal elites and liberal voters.
Although Dimon steered clear of commenting directly on President Joe Biden or Trump, he openly supports Haley.
This support is based, he said, on their discussions about global economic issues.
Dimon claims to believe Haley has the potential to bring the nation together and aligns with his views on how business and government can collaborate to boost prosperity.
Dimon is also realistic about the political landscape.
He remarked, “I would never say” the nominee should be anyone but Trump “because he might be the president and I have to deal with him too.”
He also commented on the summit’s setting in New York City, calling it “the bastion of liberal society.”
Dimon advised against labeling Trump supporters with terms like “Ultra MAGA” and scapegoating them, suggesting a more balanced approach to political discussions might yield better results.
Other ‘business leaders’ have shown similar support for Haley and expressed excitement about her candidacy to the New York Times, which tells you all you need to know.
In summary, Dimon’s endorsement of Haley seems to be a part of a larger strategy by some elites to challenge Biden’s main rival, Trump.
Should Haley become the nominee, it’s likely that Dimon might then support the Democratic candidate, showing his tactical approach to political endorsements rather than a firm commitment to any individual.
This also shows that Nikki Haley cannot be trusted. She is an establishment pick and also the weakest possible candidate against Joe Biden.
The fact that Jamie Dimon and other ‘business leaders’ are rooting for her and expressing their excitement to the New York Times says it all.
I’d much rather have Ron DeSantis in the White House than the GOP establishment pick Nikki Haley.
