Renowned “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to address and mock those calling for a boycott of an upcoming television series based on her popular books.

The television adaptation is set to be created and released on Warner Bros. Discovery’s forthcoming streaming service, Max.

Rowling tweeted, “Dreadful news, which I feel duty bound to share. Activists in my mentions are trying to organise yet another boycott of my work, this time of the Harry Potter TV show. As forewarned is forearmed, I’ve taken the precaution of laying in a large stock of champagne.” In a follow-up tweet, she added, “I actually don’t like champagne much.”

According to a press release, Rowling will serve as executive producer on the project.

She expressed enthusiasm about the adaptation, stating, “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.”

Rowling has faced criticism from proponents of radical leftist gender ideology.

In a 2020 essay, Rowling expressed concern over the surge in young women transitioning and the increasing number of individuals detransitioning due to regret.

Rowling wrote, “I want trans women to be safe. At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe.”

Regarding a “Harry Potter” video game, freelance journalist Katelyn Burns claimed that playing it would endanger the lives of trans people by boosting the profile and bottom line of the Potterverse.

She wrote, “I’m not saying you have to or even should boycott the game. It’s a free country, you can do what you want. But your trans friends will definitely notice you playing the game and readjust their trust levels with you accordingly.”

As Rowling dismisses threats of a boycott against the upcoming television series, fans of the “Harry Potter” books and films eagerly await its release on the Max streaming service.
