In a heartfelt message to his fans, renowned actor Jim Caviezel expressed his gratitude as his latest movie “Sound of Freedom” crossed the $150 million mark at the box office.
The 54-year-old actor, known for his portrayal of Jesus in the movie “Passion of the Christ”, thanked everyone who supported the film, which sheds light on the horrors of human trafficking.
Produced by Angel Studios, the same studio behind the popular faith-based TV series “The Chosen,” the movie has resonated with audiences, drawing attention to the pressing issue of child trafficking.
“Thank you for supporting Sound of Freedom!” Caviezel conveyed in a post on Thursday. He also expressed his appreciation for the prayers he received, stating that he is feeling much better and inspired by the awareness the film has brought to child trafficking. “God’s children are not for sale!” he asserted passionately.
According to Box Office Mojo, “Sound of Freedom” has earned an impressive $155,000,017 to date, as of the close of business on Wednesday.

Brandon Purdie, head of Theatrical Distribution at Angel Studios, in a weekend press release stated, “Throughout our fourth weekend, audiences have continued to show up and support SOUND OF FREEDOM, and our theatrical partners have given us ample real estate to meet that continued demand.”
“We now know that this incredible film is going to surpass the $150 million mark domestically, and we’re strongly positioned to go well past that,” he added.
The movie has performed exceptionally well at the domestic box office, maintaining its lead over highly-anticipated summer blockbusters like “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” led by Tom Cruise, which earned $143,350,787 as of Wednesday, and “The Flash,” the DC superhero film, which brought in $107,975,616.
“Sound of Freedom” is based on a true story, with Jim Caviezel taking on the role of Tim Ballard, a federal agent who decides to leave his job to embark on a perilous mission to rescue a young girl from sex slavery in South America.
The film’s compelling narrative, combined with Caviezel’s powerful performance, has resonated with audiences across the country, making it a commercial success.
In exciting news, Angel Studios recently announced the global release of “Sound of Freedom.” The movie will hit theaters in South Africa, Australia/New Zealand, Latin American countries, the U.K., and Ireland between August and October, with more countries being added weekly.
As “Sound of Freedom” continues to captivate audiences worldwide, it will spread awareness of the global crisis of human trafficking and hopefully spur people on to do something to help stop it.
