NextImg:Iconic 'Brady Bunch' House Sells For a Huge Loss, Over 2M Under Asking Price

A piece of television history has changed hands.

The Studio City house famous for its exterior shots in the classic TV show “The Brady Bunch” was sold for $3.2 million, according to sources familiar with the transaction.

Tina Trahan, wife of former HBO CEO Chris Albrecht, acquired the property, as initially reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The residence was previously owned by HGTV, which had invested in extensive renovations to make the interiors resemble those featured on the iconic series.

The reported sale price represents a roughly 9% decrease from the $3.5 million HGTV originally paid for the property in 2018.

Earlier this May, the channel had listed the house—a structure dating back to 1959—for $5.5 million.

The network then chronicled its refurbishments on the series “A Very Brady Renovation.”

Before HGTV bought it the home was owned by a single family for nearly 50 years.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trahan described the residence as “almost like a life-size dollhouse.” She also revealed plans to use the iconic property for charity events and fundraising activities.

HGTV’s renovation efforts, which reportedly cost around $2 million, expanded the house to an impressive 5,000 square feet, including the addition of a second floor and five bedrooms.

Despite the renovations, Trahan told the Wall Street Journal that she considered the purchase price steep, citing the home’s lack of modern amenities.

In 2018, HGTV outbid Lance Bass, a former member of NSYNC, to acquire the property.

Homes in the area generally sell for prices ranging between $1 million and $3 million.

“Nobody is going to live in it,” Trahan told the Wall Street Journal. “Anything you might do to make the house livable would detract from what I view as its artistic value.”

The property continues to be a draw for tourists, cementing its status as a cultural landmark.

“The Brady Bunch” originally aired from 1969 to 1974 on ABC. The Studio City house was also featured in the 1995 film “The Brady Bunch Movie” and its subsequent sequel.
