Fox News recently pulled back a hit piece story that inaccurately quoted former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price making disparaging comments about former President Donald Trump.
The original headline of the story was: “Former Trump Cabinet member tells him to ‘kiss’ his ‘butt.'” Fox News now recognizes that this headline was not accurate.
The now-retracted story quoted Price as saying, “After he fired me? No way. The only thing that guy has more of than fake tan is narcissism. He can kiss my big medical butt.”

Back in 2017, Trump had dismissed Price after a Politico report highlighted his misuse of taxpayer money for private jet trips.
The initial exposé on Price’s misuse of funds was reported by Dan Diamond, who has since stated that Price did not communicate with Fox News about this story.
Diamond tweeted, “A source close to Price said he: (1) never heard from Fox News on this matter (2) did not write an email to Fox News on this matter (3) this is not Price’s quote.”
Fox News has since pulled the story.
The story’s webpage now bears the headline “Correction,” and an editor’s note that states, “This article inaccurately attributed a quote to former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and has been retracted.”
The retraction is an acknowledgment of the mistake and reflects Fox News’ commitment to covering their butts when caught red handed accurate reporting.
It serves as a reminder of the crucial role of precision in journalism.
