Renowned television veteran Geraldo Rivera has been reportedly dismissed from Fox News’ popular show, “The Five.”
In a tweet, Rivera shared the news, saying, “Bumpy day on the North Atlantic. Anyway, I got fired from @TheFive, so I quit Fox. After 23 years, tomorrow’s ‘Fox and Friends’ could be my last appearance on the network. Thanks for the memories.”
Rivera also mentioned that he would address the situation further during his expected appearance on “Fox & Friends” the following morning, raising anticipation among viewers.
Although Rivera had previously announced his departure from the show, he did not disclose at the time that he had been fired.
He tweeted last week, “Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive. My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday, June 29th and 30th. It’s been a great run, and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being the odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large.”
When speaking to the Associated Press last week, Rivera shed some light on his decision to leave “The Five,” stating that his departure was due to “growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences and personal annoyances and gripes.”
Reflecting on his time with the show, he expressed mixed emotions, saying, “It has been a rocky ride, but it has also been an exhilarating adventure that spanned quite a few years. I hope it’s not my last adventure.”
Rivera noted that the company’s leadership did not actively pursue him to convince him to stay.
Rivera, a 79-year-old former friend of ex-President Donald Trump, made it clear that he firmly believes Trump should not be elected president again.
He stated, “Under no circumstances do I think Donald Trump should be president of the United States again, and that’s an important message I am committed to bringing to the American people between now and November 2024.”
He acknowledged that his views on Trump had caused “friction” on the show and explained, “I’m 80 years old. I don’t want the friction. ‘The Five’ is too intimate a place, and it gets too personal.”
With the departure of Geraldo Rivera, “The Five” will undoubtedly experience a shift in dynamics and perspectives.
Fox News viewers will be watching closely to see how the network fills the void left by this experienced television personality and how it continues to provide engaging and thought-provoking content to its conservative audience.
